Warsaw Philharmonic - Tchaikovsky’s ‘Pathétique’
Cadogan Hall, SW1X 9DQ , [Venue Details]Tchaikovsky never did anything by halves, and he poured all his heartache, his sorrow and his matchless gift for melody into a final symphony like no other.
Don’t be misled by the name: ‘Pathétique’ means ‘full of feelings’ and when Krzysztof Urbański conducts the Warsaw Philharmonic, that’s exactly what they’ll bring – as well as glowing colours and some of the greatest tunes even Tchaikovsky ever composed.
These superb Polish musicians are always a big hit at Cadogan Hall; tonight they share a lost masterpiece by the postwar Polish composer Grażyna Bacewicz and join pianist Alexandra Dariescu in the teenage Chopin’s Second Piano Concerto – true romance, played with love. Hear it, and feel your heart melt.
